Name: Liath
Gender: Female
Age: [redacted]
Height: 6'6 tall at the shoulders.
Pelt: Light grey with dark grey legs, paws, and
Personality: Generally apathetic, cool and collected. Curious, not particularly nosey, reserved, but intelligent and steadfast. Takes no flack from those she doesn't like. At times, she's incredibly vicious and murderous.
History: Liath has only let one wolf ever get close to her; Loch is that one wolf. For what seems to her like a lifetime, she and Loch have roamed the world and looked after each other.
Before she met Loch, Liath was an angry loner, even as a pup. Her pack abandoned her, or so she has been led to believe - she never knew them and cannot remember them. Five especially grueling summers and six harsh winters passed and she was lost in the world with no one to teach her how to protect herself, and no one to save her from the darkness that held the magic in the air captive. It contaminated the magical energies, looking for anything to consume and possessing all that it could. Such a mindless, aggressive taint would have found an easy target in a small, weak, wolf about to die; and so, it did. Liath was ravaged by the Darkness, her whole body engulfed in shadow as magic forced itself into her and combined with her unprepared soul. Blinded by the pain of being penetrated and reconstituted nearly completely, the small wolf writhed on the ground, whimpering, yelling, crying out for help that would continue to never arrive. By the end, she'd all but passed out from exhaustion, heaving and barely able to make a peep over the level of a whisper.
When she next awoke, she felt powerful, strong and able-bodied. Her thinning grey fur had regrown and was soft and silky. Her muscles had been toned and her bones had become thicker, not to mention her relative size. She looked like an adult but was only several months old. Her once-golden eyes had become solid light blue, and she was teeming with magical potential. For the next few weeks, Liath spent her time testing out and honing her new abilities. She cared little for the nature around her and left destruction in her wake. Towns were iced over, their inhabitants mutilated and eaten; creatures of the earth fled when they caught wind of her presence, though most never survived to plead for their lives. Naturally, Liath's trail of desolation attracted the attention of many, namely poachers. They scoured the land, rounding up any magical or unusual wolves they could find and hunted Liath for months.
Eventually they caught her - she hadn't put up much of a fight in her sleep - and hauled her to a lab to be thoroughly examined. She caught a glimpse of Hell: It was a laboratory with cages full of drugged, exhausted, nearly deceased wolf pups in pain, lining the walls. The she-wolf fought hard against her restraints at every given moment she could, but the scientists quickly learned how to effectively sedate her. For what seemed like ages but was really a few days, Liath - along with a larger laboratory - was prepped for testing. The day came, and so did the scientists in what they casually referred to as their "riot gear" to take the magical wolf and perform their tests on her. Liath was having none of that, and in a brief but very opportune moment of complete clarity, she ripped everyone to shreds and disappeared entirely, vowing never to return.
Nothing conspicuous happened in the proceeding few years. Having learned her lesson and changed her tactics, Liath was discreetly taking her wrath out on things that had no voice to protest and wouldn't be missed by any humans. Then one day, she caught wind of an incredible fire at the lab she so loathed. Arriving just in time to see fire explode out the windows, the large wolf with a dark soul spotted whom would eventually become her soul-mate and comrade in arms: Loch. She was changed slowly by the fellow wolf. As they shared their lives and they both grew larger and stronger, Liath finally learned what it was like to have help. Her icy heart melted a little and her soul began to purge itself of the evil that contaminated it.
