Something seemed different. Something here was slightly... off. No, no the feeling wasn't of the land itself. Liath watched the field of thin golden blades bend gently to the will of the wind wafting across the and, she took a deep breath and hummed quietly to herself. Something was definitely different, but it wasn't the land, oh no. It was the she-wolf.
For the past few days, Liath had been feeling completely ill. As ironic as it may seem, the cold had gotten to her, and she was struck with some kind of virus, her defenses too low for the sudden spike in cold weather and spontaneous sickness going around. Loch had caught it. Some of her pack had caught it; and then she had caught it. The constant feeling of drowsiness, grogginess, sludginess had begun to take its toll on the large she wolf, physically and mentally. Though she didn't feel physically sick anymore, though she could finally stand up and roam without feeling like her legs were jelly and her muscles disconnected from her bones, she still felt weak. The virus had rendered her inactive for long enough she hadn't been able to run, stretch her legs. Her muscles were weaker, her body more gaunt.
This wasn't to say that Liath was weak, no. She was incredibly strong, even for a large wolf. All the muscle mass was just hidden beneath her thick fur. She did, however, feel like something had changed in her, other than loss of muscle. Suddenly, she smirked, then began to laugh hysterically. CoyotePro Template by: Cyan

OOC Notes Coyote shuffled through the field holding her prize tightly in her mouth. A nice leg of some animal, she wasn't exactly sure. She had grabbed it as quickly as she could because the kill wasn't exactly hers... Either way she was rather proud of her "catch". She couldn't wait to settle down and eat it. Taking a breathe in the middle of the field she shifted her ears left and right. Hoping the owner of the kill hadn't followed her.... They hadn't, she sat down and panted with relief. Suddenly a strange sound echoed across the grassy plain causing her to freeze. "Is that.... laughter!?" She thought to herself as she desperately tried to locate the direction of the sound. She had laid down so she was completely hidden in the tall grass. This laugh was rather... unusual. Grabbing her prize she once again began making her way through the field, this time much more carefully and quickly. She wanted to get away before whoever was laughing caught her scent. Though she was, for a moment, tempted to find the source of the sound, that laugh had made her far to uncomfortable and besides she had her lunch to eat.

Though the long grass rustled naturally in the wind, waving smoothly across the plain, Liath could smell something else on the wind. This particular smell was intriguing to her, since she had only ever met wolf canines in her travels, and the scent was not of a wolf. She took deep breaths, having come down from her temporary high and stopped laughing, then stuck her nose to the air and inhaled. "Ahhh, there you are... with food." The large wolf grinned and set off slowly.
She stalked through the tall grass, too large to be hidden as this canid seemed to be. Now that she was moving, she could barely hear the sound of the other's rustling over her own as she glided smoothly through, tiptoeing as a wolf does over the earth leaving a single line of tracks. The ground was soft but not too soft, and she felt her paws sink slightly into the soil between blades. Eventually she caught up with the small coyote's partial tracks as well, and quickly sprinted toward the creature, a smirk tugging at her lips.
"What's wrong, little beastie? Cannot find a good place to eat?" Liath leered at the other as she moved swiftly alongside. CoyotePro Template by: Cyan

Coyote froze and turned her head to look at the creature. Dropping her meat, she glared at the wolf then spoke while trying to hide her fear "Er... yes, I was just passing through" she said assuming she had crossed into this wolves territory. Normally she probably would have tried to talk her way out of this situation but she was beginning to feel more and more uneasy about this wolf. She stared at it wondering if she could out run this odd canine. Making a quick decision she grabbed her lunch and with a quick "I'll be going now" darted off into the grass as fast as possible. She hoped to reach the large clump of thick bushes and trees ahead, it was a bit of a ways away but it was her only escape.

She stopped with the newcomer. A smile crossed her face as the small creature spoke, but it wasn't a nice expression. Her lips drew back and almost all her ivory white teeth showed, long sharp canines glinting in the light. Somewhat of a hungry gleam in her eye, Liath felt a bit strange, a little more hostile than usual. Typically this was when Loch, her best friend, would talk her down, or one of her betas would, at least. Loch was sometimes gone, not really being part of the actual pack. But now, out in the open and accompanied by no one but a tiny coyote and a ravenous gnawing in her stomach, Liath was prepared to eat anything.
Before she could do much else, think much else, the little beast excused itself and ran. "Of course," the large wolf replied, resuming her forward march slowly but speeding up incrementally until she was full on running after the other canine. "I hope you do not mind, I really am very lonely and hungry, and i forgot to ask where you got that meat." Her voice was just a tad growly, but otherwise low and sweet.
